Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid recorded another victory over Barcelona with a 2-1 victory in La Liga, despite Ronaldo being rested from the bench.
Real Madrid were ahead early on when Karim Benzema slotted in at the far post after a fantastic cross from youngster Morata.
Barcelona came back minutes later through an individual Messi effort. His skill and pace were too much for Ramos and he beat Lopez at his near post with a fierce drive.
Messi's goal meant that he equaled Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano for most goals scored in El Clasico history (18). The feat took Di Stefano 30 games while Messi has only needed 25.
In a tense affair that meant little with La Liga practically over, Real Madrid took the lead late on when Ramos headed home from a corner.
Ronaldo was a second-half substitute for Real Madrid and made an instant impact. He hit the cross-bar once and forced a fine save from Valdes from a thumping effort.
